The last few days have been spent going back and forth to the hospital getting cleaned and scrubbed. My wounds are starting to heal, and despite initial fears that there was a bad infection in my knee, I seem to be recovering fairly well without any major concerns. Beth is doing better now that her leg is immobilized in a cast.
The place we are staying is pretty luxurious by Thai standards ($20/night) and has been a good place to rest up, watch TV, and attempt sponge baths and hair washings without getting several scraped, stitched, and casted areas of the body wet. I have completed fallen in love with a kitten that lives in our hotel named “Kou Mow”. He looks a little like my cat Jackson at home. The strangest thing about this cat is that he is always sitting down on his butt with his legs straight out infront of him like a human just watching things go by. I’m going to steal him and bring him home. More cats for the Georges! (just kidding).
The food is absolutely out of this world. I’ve been soaking up the curries, tom ka gai soup, and fried rice like nobody’s business. So much for starvation diets. We’ve made friends with the woman who owns the restaurant next to our hotel. She signed Beth’s cast after lunch today, then wouldn’t let us leave.
We have word from Moo-Moo (the cranky un-empathetic travel agent in Bangkok) that our passports will be ready by Monday at 6pm. Tomorrow we plan to get up, drag our bags to the hospital for one last check up, and head for the airport here on Koh Samui to fly to Bangkok. We get in at 3:30. I will then gimply bolt into the city, pick up our passports from Moo-Moo (God willing) and get back to the airport for our 22 hour flight back to Atlanta at 1:30am.
One thing to look forward to is that Beth will have to inject herself in the stomach with a blood thinner before boarding the airplane. A precaution necessary for someone in a cast. I may pass out.

George’s Convalescent Home now open. Includes private bed and bath, home-cooked meals, transportation to doctor offices. as well as on-site pet therapy. Located in the foothills of SC, the pastoral setting aids in the healing process. Expecting new arrivals Tuesday, Sept. 19th. Hurry, limited space!

Oh man, looks likes there is some crazy stuff happening in Thailand right now…possibly a military coup! Maybe it is a good thing you are not there right now (trying to find the silver lining). I hope the flight went well and that you are on the road to recovery.

So sorry to hear of your unfortunate events. I was just stopping by to check out your website, and started reading all the blogs. I wish you both a speedy recovery. It seems your mom will be taking good care of you both:) I hope you enjoyed the first part of your trip, as it sounded like a lot of fun. Let me know how you are doing:)

You should have asked for an aubergine cast. Green is not the color this season. What were they thinking?
Dena had an accident in Greece on the same kind of bike. Her injuries were less severe (just a scrape), but then her leg got infected and turned green for awhile. What’s with the green theme?
Glad you’re both okay.
xoxo
